Description

Trichocereus bridgesii, also known as Echinopsis lageniformis, is a columnar cactus species native to Bolivia, Argentina, and Peru. It is commonly known as the Bolivian torch cactus, and it can grow up to 6 meters tall in its natural habitat, but it usually grows to about 2-3 meters tall in cultivation.

The cactus has numerous vertical ribs with prominent areoles that produce spines, which can vary in color from white to brown or black. The flowers are large and showy, blooming in shades of white and pink,  and they usually appear at night.

Trichocereus bridgesii is a popular cactus among collectors and enthusiasts due to its impressive size, fast growth rate, and unique appearance. It is also known for the spiritual and healing practices by indigenous cultures in South America.

In addition to its ornamental and traditional uses, Trichocereus bridgesii is also used as livestock fodder and as a natural fence due to its height and density.
